Rest for the Soul

Jeremiah 6:16
"Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls...."

Joshua 1:13
Remember the command that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: "The Lord your God is giving you rest and has granted you this land."

Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

To rest or not to rest...generally speaking I rest pretty well at night, but you also have to factor in age and a three year old. When I don't rest well is when I have choosen the wrong road on the above mentioned cross road. For example, I had a bad thought or I actually said something to or about someone. Maybe I just ignored the Holy Spirit's leading to do something for somebody. These are things that bother me when I lay down at night. I also worry about if the house is secured. Did I turn off the stove? And what is so crazy is I actualy get up and go check (even though I checked before I went to bed, yep, crazy).

Sometimes it does seem the wicked have everything. I'd rather have my humble home with family and friends and my Jesus who love me (the crazy me), than a mansion sitting by myself surrounded by beautiful things. The beautiful things are man made and will not last. Find the beautiful things that God made and surround yourself with them.
