II Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Oh, what powerful words these are! God loves his children very, very much and as a loving earthly dad will punish his children when they have done wrong so will our Heavenly Father punish us when we have done wrong. Just as we go to our earthly dad and ask forgiveness after we have been punished, so we should ask God to forgive us when we sin. Once we ask for forgiveness we should not return to our old ways that got us into trouble to begin with; but start down a new path with a new attitude.
In order to be blessed by God, you must first bless God. You say how can you bless God when He is God, He created everything, He is everything. I could sit here and write a long list of ways to bless God and I could equally write a longer list of the ways that God has blessed me. Some say you must follow the Ten Commandments - true, you must love one another as yourself - true and most importantly, you MUST love God more than anything else and give Him the proper respect and love that He alone deserves.
We have all seen some terrible storms on the news these past few weeks of flooding, and devastation everywhere. These could be right here in Murfreesboro, Arkansas just as easily as it is in other places. It is only by the grace of God that it has not been here at home.
II Chronicles 7:14 says "If my people, which are called by my name (that is us folks, the saved, the ones who know Christ personally) will humble themselves and pray (that means quit trying to be the controller and let God control you and get on your knees and talk with your Heavenly Father) and turn from their wicked ways (let God be in control of all your mind, thoughts, let him completely consume you and all decision are made by Him for you) then will I hear from heaven; and forgive their sin, and heal their land (this means when you truly turn things over to Christ and let Him be in charge of everything - then He will heal our land).
This needs to be done by every American that has reached the age of accountability. We need to be on our knees asking God to help us as we pray for the leaders of the United States. I believe that we (this generation of people) are seeing the protecting hand of God being slowly lifted off the United States. We need to pray that we will turn from our wicked ways, ask God to bless us once again and make God the Great God that He is not only in our hearts, minds and soul but also in these Great United States of America. God bless us every one.
